TRAVEL ON SNOWMOBILES
Travel for these hunts will be on snowmobiles. We will stay between our main camp at Klikitarik and our trapping and hunting camp back on the Golsovia river. If we have to travel far to go after an Alaska bear we may end up setting up our arctic oven tents for a night or two.
WARM & COZY
We will be equipped with cots and wood stoves so they will be warm and cozy.
OTHER Alaska HUNTING OPPORTUNITIES
You will also have the chance to hunt some ptarmigans while they are in their spring plumage. The males have a bright burgundy colored head at this time and the females are all white.
EXPECT TO TRAVEL 100-150 MILES PER DAY
On good clear days it’s not uncommon to cover 100 to 150 miles a day in search of a Alaska grizzly bear or tracks. You wont see a ton of bears at this time, but the rule of thumb is the big bears come out first. And the spring hides at this time of the year are some of the best. And the claws are long and sharp as well, since they are just getting out of their dens.
Alaska Boat hunts (Weather permitting)
We plan to do some boat hunts in late May an early June, But these hunts are weather permitting, depending on ice conditions.
